Due to the severity and impact of the fires on L.A. residents both within and beyond the fire zones, the Social Impact Collaboratives call for proposals is revised to prioritize proposals that address issues related to post-fire recovery and rebuilding of lives and communities, including but not limited to fire- and climate-specific topics, housing, economic recovery, health and well-being, attention to vulnerable populations, etc.

Flad Architects performs a master planning exercise for the UCLA Research Park.

Stimulus funding is awarded to support new community-engaged teaching and research: 10 grants to faculty to develop new undergraduate, graduate and professional school courses; 5 awards to academic departments to build their capacity to support community-engaged teaching and their community partners; and 23 grants to interdisciplinary teams of faculty to develop new social impact research partnerships.

Flad Architects is selected to design the master plan for the transformation of the new UCLA Research Park space. The initial phase of their work should be completed by fall 2024.
