Strategy Execution Team

Overview
The Chancellor’s Office established the Strategy Execution Team (SET) to turn UCLA’s collective vision into action. Led by the special advisor on strategic plan Initiatives, SET is a nimble group of campus experts drawn from across departments who bring their knowledge and skills to drive UCLA’s flagship initiatives forward.

- Gerrie Zvara, Director, Organizational Effectiveness & Development
Serving as the university’s connective tissue, SET ensures coherence across transformative goals, coordinates efforts among stakeholders and provides disciplined support grounded in proven execution practices.
Its work centers on four essential functions:
Strategic Alignment
- Connects activities and initiatives to broader strategic outcomes and the One UCLA vision
- Facilitates sequencing of strategic activities considering emerging needs and context
- Supports alignment between campus-level goals and unit-level goals
Governance & Accountability
- Coordinates governance structures with senior leadership and key stakeholders for effective oversight
- Identifies synergies and facilitate alignment across initiatives
- Monitors data related to the implementation of the plan
Execution
- Engages stakeholders on timelines, milestones, risks and resource planning to ensure execution of the strategic plan
- Manages interdependencies across workstreams
- Works with leadership and key stakeholders to design and operates new initiatives as needed
Change Management & Capacity Building
- Provides insights, data and stories from the strategic plan to articulate its impact to the UCLA community, donors and the general public
- Identifies “bright spots” and lessons learned across schools and units and support dissemination
- Supports change leaders reduce resistance and promote adoption
