The Space Occupancy Sensor Pilot Program is implemented to evaluate space-use in five buildings on campus. The program aims to improve campus efficiency, sustainability and functionality; ensure campus resources are used effectively to support the growing needs of students, faculty and staff; reduce costs, align with sustainability goals and minimize the campus’s environmental footprint; and facilitate smarter decision-making, resource allocation and maintenance, ensuring a well-maintained and forward-thinking campus environment. UCLA Administration launches the UCLA Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certificate Workshop to enhance knowledge and practical applications of continuous process improvement efforts on campus. To date, 113 participants have received a Yellow Belt certificate.

The Occupancy Space pilot program, which will inform initiatives related to campus space management, enters its planning phase. The project team has researched and identified vendors for equipment, identified campus buildings for the occupancy analysis pilot, engaged with ITS on network support and determined a funding source for the pilot.
UCLA Effectiveness Advisory & Governance develops an Institutional Effectiveness Metrics report that highlights the current state of performance metrics, the need for an improved framework for measuring success, guidelines for aligning performance metrics to the overall mission, and recommendations for institutional metrics based on data gathered internally and through benchmarking activities.
